Crews were called to an apartment building fire in the 1100 block of North 2nd Street around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Smoke was coming from the second floor balcony facing the 200 block of Sassafras Street when crews arrived.
Thanks to working smoke detectors the residents were able to escape safely. The four people were cared for by the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania.
The fire was contained to the kitchen and porch.
The cost of the damage is estimated at $15,000, according to Harrisburg Deputy Chief Michael Souder.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
